Darwin Conference
The conference is over now but its echo can still be heard in the city. All the rumors and the struggles before, turned into a good promotion of the event. Several churches prayed very hard for this as it was seen as a powerful evangelistic opportunity. Our community was proud to have Emil Silvestru returning to his hometown with good news from the scientific world. Still having a huge impact in the west, Darwin's theories can be easily unmounted when looking through a different perspective. This was the purpose of the movie presented, yet showing the both, evolutionist and creationist theories. "Science never proved that God doesn't exist as science will never convince a nonbeliever that God exists." Emil's statement crashed any barrier of accepting an alternative. It was not about convincing people, but showing them the other side of the truth, hoping that they will understand God's authority as the only Creator.
The real seekers of the truth were hardly questioned by the evidences shown and the answers to the raised question. Was that a triumph of God's truth? Yes, and more than that, it was a sign of Christians involving in the academic world, seen as atheistic and formatted to reject any form of spirituality. It's a sign that we must encourage education in our churches so we can stand out like Paul in the ancient times in places where God is "proved" to be missing.
