Josh McDowell
Last week I had the privilege to be at Josh McDowell's conference in Sovata, Romania. The B.I.G. Impact Network we're part of invited him to Romania for a two days conference. This is part of the bigger plan of inviting some great speakers to Romania, to share their experience and their researches with our youth leaders and pastors. And for many of us, this was a once in a lifetime experience. We have all his books translated in Romanian (New Hope also translated and printed some of his titles) but meeting him face to face and hearing him speaking came as a confirmation of what he has written. "... over the years I tried to write so many books, to serve people like you... Let me help you! Let me work with you through my books!... You don't have the time and money to do all that research... not even close... You, take advantage of it!
The conference covered two major subjects and I personally learned a lot from them. The first one was about family and the importance of the father in the child's life. As a young father, I have a lot more to learn, but I'm glad I can use the experience and the research of other successful parents. The second subject was about knowing what we believe. The main question was "How do you know that what Jesus said and did was exactly how the Bible describes it?" This is the topic we're going through with our youth group, so it came like a completion.
Maybe this is another step forward in our ministry in our country. We have books, we have resources, maybe we need to be exposed to great people like Josh , or Ravi Zacharias , Phillip Yancey , Curt Cloninger , and many others...
