Samson, a lost potential
We're back from the camp, but keeping alive the memory of a great time together with our youth group. We enjoyed the sun and the sea, but above all, I've seen the good relationships they are developing with each other and the way they live their faith. I have to admit that organizing a camp at the sea shore was always a challenge for us. There are so many temptations for the teenagers, so we never did it before, until now. I realized that God protected us there and we had one of the best camps in the last years.
I've seen a lot of maturity and dedication in this youth group. They will finish the high school next year and will have a hard time with the exams, so maybe we're living the last moments as a group. But, we're thankful for the great memories we have with them. I know some of them since they were born and I've seen them growing so nice. I know Rei is sharing the same experience and we believe this is one of the best groups we had, the future members of our church and people we want as friends. Here is what he said:
"The theme of our teenage camp was Samson, a wasted potential. I think we had one of the greatest Bible teaching times ever… incredible debates and life applications from the life of Samson. In fact we came home with several major life lessons that will be put together in a slide show with photos from the camp that will be given to all the participants as a remembering stone.
With this camp, again, God has spoken to us. We realized we live in a time when faith is thin, because our aching for what is above and beyond us has been anaesthetized and our capacity for wonder reduced to clever tricks. That’s why we need to rethink our strategy and programs for the future. We must do that if we want to stay in touch with our vision. So, the camp was for us first, and for teenagers, second"
