The G-Day

The windows are honest. They have nothing to hide. The windows are distinct. They have an inner charm. The windows are wise. They stop the wind but leave the light and warmth to pass. The windows are generous. They open. The windows are present. They express life. The windows are magic. They connect this side with the other side. These were some of the thoughts we shared with our twelve graders this year. We pray that the metaphor of the window to be real for each one of them/us. We wish them to be like pieces of heaven in their world. It's an ending and a new beginning in the same time. Entering a new world, becoming more adult than teenagers, new schools, new colleagues, new places, new temptations... are some of the challenges.
At the end of the school year we use to celebrate the twelve graders in our church, publicly, in the church service. This became almost like a tradition. We want to show them our appreciation, to encourage them for the future and to offer them a reminder, a milestone. This year we had more than 20 ex-teenagers who showed up. Some of them we know since they were little children and sooner they will become part of our college students ministry. We have a history together and we hope that we've been opened "windows" so they will be the same, connecting our world with "the other side".
